TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THIS OFFICE YOU MUST:
- Be correctly addressed for 911 purposes. This can be obtained form the permit office.
- Obtain a letter from the Assessor’s office in the courthouse (985) 369-6385.
- Obtain a sewer application from the health unit. Between 8:00 AM & 10:00 AM MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. 985-369-6031.
- Have an elevation certificate completed by a registered land surveyor or engineer of the lowest floor of the development and any other mechanical equipment I.E. (sewer and a/c units).
Temporary permits will be issued in order to establish the lowest floor elevation for residential construction purpose only. This only applies if it has been determined that you are in a flood zone.
Additional buildings such as sheds, shops and any other building must be in compliance with our ordinance. When building on shore banks or over water all areas are considered to be V ZONES, which requires BFE+2 feet. All of the above structures will require a separate elevation certificate.

- Bring all completed paperwork back to obtain your permit.
- Commercial applications must have State Fire Marshall’s approval. An existing structure (Commercial) can have an affidavit stating there are no structural changes to the building. It must be notarized.
