Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program
(LIHEAP)
The Special Programs Director, Mercedes A. Bernard, of the Assumption Parish Police Jury Department of Housing and Community Development would like to announce availability of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding.
LIHEAP is an energy assistance program that provides eligible low-income households with help paying their energy bill. Household income is determined in accordance with the criteria established by the U.S. Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis with special attention given to households with members 60 years of age and older, household members with disabilities and households with children age five and under. Applicants must provide the following information when applying for assistance, CURRENT PICTURE ID.SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS AND PROOF OF INCOME FOR ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS AND A UTILITY BILL. Applicants living in subsidized housing are also required to report any utility allowance that represents a reduction in rent burden or whether they are receiving a check for utilities. In addition, YOU MUST HAVE NOT RECEIVED ENERGY ASSISTANCE SINCE APRIL 2019.
